Professional Blowout Techniques for Long-Lasting, Voluminous Hair

Book a Blow Out?

You have two options: book a blow out or dry it yourself. If you choose to go the DIY route, ensure you wash your hair thoroughly. Scrub your scalp and let the shampoo cascade down the hair shaft to effectively cleanse. Utilize professional products to safeguard your investment, keeping your hair color pristine and your locks looking their best. Don’t forget to condition.

Day 1 & 2: Start with minimal product. Use a heat protectant, a moisture booster (leave-in treatment or oil), and a volumizer of your choice. You might have all three, and many products offer multiple benefits. I recommend the 5 in 1 by J Beverly Hills for its moisture, strength, shine, heat protection, and de-frizz properties. Always apply products starting from the back on your ends, working your way up unless you're directly spraying your roots.

Blow dry your hair using your favorite brush, or let it air dry naturally. If desired, you can introduce a flat iron or curling iron at any point; I usually opt for curls.

Ensure you have a shower cap ready for when you need it!

Day 3

It's time to revive that hair! On Day 3, greasy roots are a common battle. Start by applying dry shampoo at the roots to soak up excess oil; don’t hesitate to rub it in or brush it through for a fresh, voluminous look. Next, apply a small amount of coconut oil through your ends to add moisture and shine. This combination will not only bring your hair back to life but also create a fun texture for styling. If you're blonde, this is a perfect time to brighten up your color, as the dry shampoo can enhance those beautiful highlights. If you've been around food or smoke, dry shampoo helps eliminate unwanted odors while giving you that fresh scent.

Days 4 & 5

Continue your hair revival by applying more dry shampoo as you did on Day 3. If your hair feels lackluster, introduce shine spray or an oil for added gloss. Prefer to keep that texture? A spritz of hairspray will provide both shine and hold. For a quick refresh, recurl sections with a flat iron or curling iron, bringing back that bounce to your locks. These small adjustments can transform your look while keeping the style fresh and fabulous!

Days 6 & 7

Congratulations on making it to day six or seven! At this stage, your hair is likely in a groove where it can still shine without a full wash. Stick with your revive oil and fresh hair routine—it's an excellent base to maintain that healthy look.

Introduce a volume spray if you're opting for a blow-dry to help set your style, or reach for a texture spray for a more tousled finish. Personally, I often find myself putting my hair up at this point, but if my hair still looks good and doesn't need a cut, I can stretch it even longer with it down.

Embrace how your hair evolves over these days; it’s all about that beautiful transformation. The time saved from washing less often is liberating, allowing you to explore different looks with minimal effort. If you’re new to this, it may take a little practice, but the freedom and fun are well worth it. Now, all you need to do is shampoo and repeat!
